Hurt?

None of us are perfect but there is a striving in obedience to God's word to become mature in Him. This, I am finding is a hard saying.

To be the greatest, you must become a servant - which in our eyes is the least.

Practical application of this is difficult. When someone gets the recognition you think you deserve, it cuts us to the quick. We feel hurt and upset and are pulled downward thinking about ourselves. Instead, as a servant of God, we should become the encourager and cheer on others. There is a much needed denial of our emotions and an opening of our spirit to God's Spirit as the higher way of living.
Another example, when we are left out of activity and feel small and insignificant, right away we want to abandon our company of friends - when if we could muster the strength in God to do it, our prayers could help make their task easier or their way better. Being a servant is tough and hard and we need the help of Jesus Christ for it.
